Part Time Job

I think it has been so long that I do not update my blog. Last week, I am so busy with my literature microteaching and other assignments to be sent. Nevertheless, I took this chance to post new entry during the weekend. I admit that life as a university student is a busy life. But....Nisha, remember one thing....No excuse to do what you really like, right?? he2.

Today, I want to write about my part time job as one of the tutor under PPIP school during weekends on Saturday and Sunday. This is my first time becoming a teacher for the primary school children. I had been given the responsibility to teach the Standard Four and Standard Six students. Wow!! It was such a great experience to me as a teacher to be.

I have to face many attitudes of the students. There are some of them which are good students. The type of students who really attend the tuiton classes in other to study and realise that it was not good to waste their parents' money. However, not all of them are totally good and nice. Sometimes, as a child who still in the process to discover their identity and in their way to understand the true meaning of life, it is normal for them to behave as immature person. Girls and boys chasing each other in class as one of them started to say something which was not so nice about their parents' name was some of the usual case happen in class while I am standing in front of the class and was teaching them grammar and the vocab that they should acquire in English...wuahhhh...

When things like this occur, I realise that this is the time when I should apply all the psychology aspects that I had learned during my first and second year's lecture. First of all, don't panic. Teacher should be cool. Do not scold them in front of their friends in class as this will make them feel shame. Do a slow talk with them. Find other alternatives to vary our lesson. For example, I can make them learn English in an enjoyable way through fun language games. Maybe when I do this, they will sit properly at their own place and started to learn the lesson as they should do before. I had tried this plan and Alhamdulillah finally I can manage to control most of the classes well. I have to find their interest point in learning the language and encourage them to build up their proficiency in English in a great way.

Now, as I have my own students, there is one thing that I would never forget to do as a good teacher. I will always pray for their excellence in life. May Allah give them a good life in this world and in the hereafter :) Amin.
